Anderlecht Team News
Ruben Martinez looks to have secured his role as Anderlechts goalkeeper in the Europa League and should start ahead of Frank Boeckx on Thursday.
Andy Najar has been missed their last few matches due to a hamstring injury and he remains a doubt here.
Uros Spajic, Youri Tielemans, Łukasz Teodorczyk, Leander Dendoncker, Sofiane Hanni, Bram Nuytinck, Frank Acheampong, Isaac Kiese Thelin and Emmanuel Sowah Adjei are all one booking away from suspension in the reverse leg.
Manchester United Team News
Few changes are expected to the side with Jose Mourinho having to contend with a number of injury problems. Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Ashley Young will all miss the trip to Belgium.
David De Gea has travelled with the squad to Belgium but Sergio Romero is expected to start in goal on Thursday. Wayne Rooney returned to training this week but wasn't deemed fit enough to make the squad and will stay in Manchester.
Antonio Valencia has missed Manchester United's last two matches but is in the touring squad and expected to return to the side on Thursday evening. Mourinho is expected to field his strongest available side despite facing Chelsea at home on Sunday.
Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial look to be battling for one position in attack with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to start with Paul Pogba in advanced areas.
Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini are also vying for a position in central midfield, while Daley Blind or Matteo Darmian could start at left-back at Luke Shaw's expense.
Eric Bailly and Ander Herrera are one booking away from suspension in the return leg at Old Trafford.
Man Utd have kept a clean sheet in 5 of their last 6 matches (UEFA Europa League).
Man Utd have won 5 of their last 6 matches (UEFA Europa League).
There have been under 2.5 goals scored in Man Utd's last 3 games (UEFA Europa League).
Manchester United have now made the Europa League their priority with chances of finishing in the top-four in the Premier League now slim. The Red Devils inflicted Anderlecht's biggest ever loss in European competition when thrashing them 10-0 back in 1956. Jose Mourinho would love for anywhere near a repeat scoreline on Thursday.
Anderlecht will probably need to carry a good advantage into the second leg for their to be any realistic chance of progressing into the semi-finals of the competition having lost 13 of their 15 previous matches in England. They should be confident of at least frustrating United, they have kept a clean sheet in each of their last five home games in all competitions.
Ibrahimovic has scored five goals in two matches against Anderlecht in the past and is currently the competition's joint top goalscorer of those still left in the competition, alongside Anderlecht's Lukasz Teodorczyk. The 35-year-old could be the difference for United once again on Thursday.
